Edward G. Fahnestock, 85, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Elizabethtown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born Saturday, January 9, 1937, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Edward F. Fahnestock and Katherine E. (Kentig) Fahnestock. He was married to Brenda K. (Reynolds) Fahnestock who passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021.
Ed was a longtime fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed motorcycles, 1950 & 1960’s Rock & Roll, and cars of all kinds-especially Hot Rods. He will be remembered for his selflessness, kindness, amazing sense of humor and being the kind of guy who would “give you the shirt off his back”. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
He is survived by eight children: Kathy McMillen, of York, Yvonne Snyder, married to Dale, of Harrisburg, Doug Grimm, of North Carolina, Wanda Clark, of Dillsburg, Gary Reynolds and his companion, Connie Espenshade, of Elizabethtown, Frank Stauffer, of Virginia, Todd Fahnestock, married to Amanda, of Elizabethtown and Edward Fahnestock, married to Polly, of Elizabethtown. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Ed was preceded in death by four brothers and one infant sister.
A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 12:30-1:30 PM at the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022, 717-367-1543. A Graveside Service will follow at 2 PM on Tuesday in Milton Grove Cemetery, Milton Grove Road, Elizabethtown. Following the Graveside Service, a Celebration of Edward’s Life will be held from 3-8 PM at the Milton Grove Sportsmen’s Club, 731 Milton Grove Road N., Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
