Willis "Willy" H. Boyles, Sr.

Willis H. Boyles, Sr., 74, of Marietta, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, surrounded by his wife and children.  Born Tuesday, December 8, 1942 in Marietta, he was the son of the late Willis H. and Elizabeth (Reisinger) Boyles.  He was married to Patricia E. (Flanagan) Boyles on May 23, 1970.

Willy was a graduate of Donegal High School.  He went on to serve with the U.S. Navy for six years during the Vietnam War.  After the Navy, he worked for Armstrong Flooring Plant in Marietta until they went out of business.  He then worked for Wyeth Labs until retirement.

He was a member of Marietta American Legion Post #446 and the Catholic War Veterans Post #1306, Columbia.  Willy enjoyed spending time on the computer, playing board games with his children and grandchildren and reading, especially about astronomy.  He also enjoyed visiting Gettysburg battlefields.

In addition to his wife of over 47 years, he will be lovingly missed by three children: Angela L. Rapp (Don), of Mount Joy; Christy L. Reese (Mike), of Marietta and Willis H. Boyles, Jr. (Nicole), of Marietta.  Also surviving are 4 grandchildren: Amber Rapp (Josh); Tyler Rapp; Kiersten and Kassidy Boyles as well as a great granddaughter, Savannah Mehaffey.

A Christian Prayer Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 29 North Gay Street, Marietta, PA  17547, 717-426-3614.  Burial will follow in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Columbia, with military honors.  Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Willy’s honor to Hospice and Community Care or to the Lebanon VA Medical Center.
