Richard L. Gallo, 91, of Maytown, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018 at Paramount Senior Living. Born in Bainbridge, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ethel L. (McNelly) Gallo. He leaves behind his loving wife of 70 years, Betty (Singer) Gallo.
Richard was a proud veteran of the US Navy, serving in WWII. He then went on to work as an estimator for Funk Brothers, Inc., an excavating contractor. He was a jack-of-all-trades, and liked working on different building projects. Richard even built the house he raised his family in. He was a member of Maytown Church of God, singing in their choir and going on mission trips.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by three children: David L. Gallo & wife Marsha of Maytown, Barry M. Gallo of Norristown, and Gina G. Gallo of Birmingham, England, granddaughter Jennifer L. Zeigler & husband Davis of Mechanicsburg, and brother Kenneth R. Gallo & wife Betty of Willow Street. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald P. Gallo.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Maytown Church of God, 14 W. Elizabeth St., Maytown, PA 17550. A viewing will be held from 10-11AM prior to the service. Burial with full military honors will follow at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 29 N. Gay St., Marietta. 717-426-3614.
