Jean M. (Manley) Smedley

Jean M. Smedley, 91, of Marietta, PA, entered into rest on November 17, 2017 after a brief illness.  Her husband of 67 years Richard (Dick) D. Smedley, Sr. preceeded her in death in 2014.   Born in Columbia, Jean was the daughter of the late Wilbert and Sophia Manley. Jean was a graduate of Columbia High School.  Dick and Jean established the Richard D. Smedley Funeral Home in Marietta in 1955.

A faithful member of the Community Bible Church in Marietta, Jean was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Marietta Lions Club, Marietta Restoration Associates, and Main Street Marietta Inc.

Jean is survived by her three children, Lt. Col. Richard D. Smedley Jr. (Retired U.S. Air Force) and his wife Carol (Greider) Smedley, Dallas, GA; Ann L. Smedley, Marietta, PA; and Mark F. Smedley, and his wife Debra (Spanbauer) Smedley, California, MD; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and her brothers Wilbert Manley Jr of York, PA, and Ronald Manley of Columbia, PA.  In addition to her husband, Jean was preceeded in death by her sister Nancy Mathiot, and brothers Curtis Manley and Donald Manley.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jean's Funeral Service and Viewing on Saturday November 25, 2017, at the Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 29 North Gay Street, Marietta, PA 17547. The Viewing will take place from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM.  The Funeral Service will begin immediately following the Viewing. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery and will take place on Monday November 27 at 11:00 AM.  Donations may be made in memory Jean Smedley to the Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P.O.
