Hermon White, 89, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018 at his home in Columbia. Born January 4, 1929 in Louisa, Virginia, he was the son of the late Stephen and Estelle (Shelton) White. He was married to Geraldine (Waters) White.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Hermon S., Allan M., Brian L. and Adrian M. White, husband of Heather, all of Columbia, as well as 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Paula and Carla White and a son, Charles “Ricky” Shank.
A Veteran, Hermon proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Marietta American Legion Post 466. He was employed by Harley-Davidson as a Maintenance Supervisor. While at Harley-Davidson, he played for and managed their softball team. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and his favorite pastimes included fishing and attending sporting events of his children and grandchildren.
There will be a viewing held at the Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 29 N. Gay St., Marietta, PA 17547, 717-426-3614, on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 AM with a viewing from 10-11 AM. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.
