Ellington S. "Scotty" Sargen

Ellington S. “Scotty” Sargen, 76, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Marietta, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Kadima Rehabilitation and Nursing in Campbelltown. Born April 9, 1942 in Marietta, he was the son of the late Maxwell and Kathryn (Markley) Sargen. He was married 51 years to Victoria N. (Lippold) Sargen also of Elizabethtown.

Scotty served as Marietta Police Chief from 1968-73 as well as serving as a constable. He then worked for Armstrong Carpet for eight years, and then 27 years with PP&L, retiring from there as a supervisor. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a member of the Donegal Hunting Club and served as a game keeper for the Medhia Pheasant Preserve in Juniata County. He was an avid cigar enthusiast who loved life and people, and enjoyed telling stories. A US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Era, Scotty trained guard dogs in London. His biggest joy in life, however, was his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Victoria, he is survived by a daughter Nicole R. Carl of Elizabethtown; a son Eric S. Sargen of Mount Joy; five grandchildren: Kayla McCall, Shanel Neal, Ethan Carl, Navaeh Neal and Daneishya Neal; two great grandchildren: Camden McCall and Ellie McCall, and a sister Artennis Gohn. Scotty was predeceased by eight brothers and four sisters.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1290 River Road, Marietta, PA 17547 at 11:00 AM. There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
