David S. Kalmbach, 77, of Columbia passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Conestoga View Nursing & Rehabilitation. Born in Grand Rapids, MI, he was the son of the late George F. and Helen E. (Sanford) Kalmbach.
Before moving to Columbia, he lived in Marietta. David was the owner and operator of the Historic Marietta Theatre for over 25 year. He enjoyed restoring pipe organs, including the one in his theatre that was played during silent movies. He was also a world renowned recording engineer, boasting over 10 gold records.
He is survived by his friend Sherman Hall, who cared for David throughout his illness. He was preceded in death by his brother George “Fritz” Kalmbach.
Burial will be private and at a later date at Oakhill Cemetery in Grand Rapids, MI. Arrangements have been entrusted to Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 29 N. Gay St., Marietta, PA, 17547.
