Marlin J. Dyer

Marlin J. Dyer, 60, of Marietta passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy. Born in Landisville, he was the son of the late Stanley R. and Rachel B. (Musser) Dyer.

Marlin, known to his friends as “Dog Jaw” enjoyed shooting pool, going to see local bands play, hunting, fishing and trapping, and riding motorcycles. Previously, he also enjoyed racing homing pigeons. He will be fondly remembered for the jokes he liked to tell. Marlin was a shipping and receiving clerk at the former N.C.R. Corporation in Mount Joy for more than 20 years. He recently retired from Crowe Transportation in Elizabethtown. He was a member of the Foresters Club in Columbia and the Dutch Club of Steelton, PA.

He is survived by two sons: Marlin R. Dyer of Elizabethtown and Troy A. Dyer of Marietta; four grandchildren: Andrea Dyer, Madison Dyer, Briley Dyer, and Bella Dyer, as well as his former spouse Tina M. Dyer. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Cunningham.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6PM on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 29 N. Gay St., Marietta, PA 17547, with Pastor Joseph Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-6PM prior to the service.
