James W. Rice, Jr.

James Warren Rice, Jr., in his 82nd year went to be with The Lord on Saturday, April 16, 2016. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late James W. and Beatrice E. (Wehner) Rice. His wife Janet M. (Gibson) Rice preceded him in death in August 2008.

He was a Korean War Veteran and lifelong truck driver. His favorite things were his dog Sweetie, Bingo cards, and watching Western movies. He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will always remain a hero to his family. Loved and dearly missed.

James is survived by eight children:  Allen Gibson, Janice Frey, Jeffrey Rice, Jeanette Shade, JoAnne Wagner, James Rice III, Jane Miller, Judith Acor; sixteen grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; four sisters and one brother.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Mount Joy Cemetery with son-in-law Raymond Shade officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 29 N. Gay St., Marietta, PA 17547.
