Diann L. (Welter) O’Donnell

Diann L. (Welter) O’Donnell, 71, of Maytown, died on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Bainbridge, she was the daughter of the late George C. and Ada K. (Dostman) Welter. She will be lovingly missed by her husband of 52 years, James W. O’Donnell.

After raising her four children, Diann went back to college for a time to earn credits to be an insurance underwriter and to pursue her love of history. She also worked as a secretary for local churches. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Columbia. She was passionate about genealogy, gardening, and watching for her favorite birds. She liked listening to music, and had a talent for playing the organ and the accordion. Diann loved animals, and her two cats are already missing her.

In addition to her husband she is survived by four children: Michael J. O’Donnell (Cathy Callihan) of Marietta, Patrick J. O’Donnell of Wrightsville, Teresa L. Habib (Robert) of Chesapeake, VA, and Christopher P. O’Donnell of New Danville; three grandchildren: Jared Evans, Janelle O’Donnell, and Max Habib; three sisters: Mary Wentz, Judy Cline, and Eileen Smith; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her stepfather John Penyak, sister Kathy Buller, and brother Donald Welter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry St., Columbia, PA 17512 with Rev. Fr. Stephen Kelley officiating. There will be a visitation from 10-11AM prior to the service. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.
